With nearly one million Filipino people living across Canada, it is no surprise that Filipino cuisine has become a pronounced part of the country's culinary fabric. The Philippine Consulate General aims to create awareness and celebrate this fact once again with its 2nd annual Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada.
From April 1 to 30, Filipino-owned restaurants in provinces like BC, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta will create feature dishes and menus for patrons to enjoy. 40 restaurants across seven Canadian provinces and 18 cities participated in the month-long event last year and the initiative is hoping to see both increased business participation and patronage for 2023.
“Year 2 of the FRMC promises to be bigger and better as it will build on the success of our inaugural run last year. We encourage the 957,000-strong Filipino community across Canada to become our ambassadors of goodwill and join us in promoting and mainstreaming the Filipino cuisine in this country,” said Philippine Consulate General to Calgary Zaldy Patron in today's announcement.
Participating restaurants and other details for the 2023 Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada will be unveiled on March 20 during a launch event at the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary.
