Daily bite: Saskatoon's Black Fox Farm and Distillery debuts mustard gin

Meet Canada's newest and most unique small-batch gin

Black Fox Farm and Distillery gin

Located just outside of Saskatoon, since opening in 2014, Black Fox Farm and Distillery has become one of the Prairies premier small-batch distillers. With a variety of spirits on offer, from liqueurs to vodka and three types of gin (standard, cucumber and barrel-aged), the distillery's owner John Cote has decided to add a fourth limited edition to the mix.

The infusion of Cote's farm-grown mustard seeds into their signature base of triticale (a wheat/rye hybrid grain) with botanicals like rhubarb and calendula petals--also grown on property--results in an amber coloured gin, the taste of which leans more to the savoury side of things. Try it in a dirty martini, Caesar or neat, if you want to discover all the nuances of this unique Canadian gin.

For now, it will only be available for purchase at the distillery (approximately a 15 minute drive from downtown Saskatoon) while small quantity lasts, but expect mustard gin volume two to debut in summer 2018 and to be available at liquor stores across Saskatchewan.
