In light of the cancellation of many major entertainment and sporting events, including the 2020 Juno Awards, just days before they were set to take place in Saskatoon, the James Beard Foundation has just announced that they would be cancelling all tentative awards events this spring until further notice.

"Of prime concern is the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, committee members, sponsors, nominees, and all attendees. We also recognize the responsibility of every organization and individual to do what they can to contain the spread of the virus," the organization states in the announcement.

The nominees will be announced on March 25 from Philadelphia as scheduled, but for now, the James Beard Media Awards (originally scheduled for Friday, April 24, in New York City), the Leadership Awards (Sunday, May 3, in Chicago), and the Restaurant and Chef Awards (Monday, May 4, in Chicago) are all tentatively postponed until the summer.
