Vancouver's Heritage Asian Eatery permanently closes Broadway location

A Vancouver restaurant closure tied to Broadway Subway project construction

After four years in operation, Heritage Asian Eatery announced this week that it would be closing its Broadway location.

Citing never-ending construction as a primary issue, the restaurant notes that their patrons as well as delivery drivers have regularly struggled to access their entrance, which is located steps from the busy Broadway-Cambie intersection in the heart of the construction zone.

“We have tried everything available to us, but we cannot sustain these disruptions without some sort of compensation from the city or province,” said owner Paul Zhang in the restaurant's announcement. “The ongoing limited access and visibility has left us unable to maintain a satisfactory level of service for our valued customers. We’re going to take this opportunity to focus on our Pender Street location and our new location opening soon in North Vancouver.”

Heritage’s original location in downtown Vancouver Pender at 1108 West Pender Street remains a popular go-to, especially since the restaurant had a facelift, adding a fun cocktail menu and great happy hour along with it.

The company is also in the process of building a new location in the Lonsdale Quay Market. Heritage Asian Eatery North Vancouver is projected to open in late spring or early summer 2023.
