A somewhat brief but memorable era is coming to a close for Calgary’s A1 Cantina next week after the popular Thank You Hospitality concept announced on Instagram that it will be closing permanently on October 31.

It’s not all sad news, however, as the announcement also served to set the stage for a new Native Tongues offshoot that will be taking over the Britannia Plaza space sometime this winter.

While the exact opening date has yet to be determined, when A1 Cantina does reopen as Native Tongues Britannia, it will do so after an extensive series of renovations, which A1 says will include the addition of a new all-season patio space.

Until then, Calgarians can continue to get their fix of A1 Cantina-style Mexican street food fare from the A1 Burrito outpost inside Ol’ Beautiful Brewing Co. Keep an eye on the A1 Cantina and Native Tongues Instagram pages to stay up-to-date with the latest announcements.
