The baker life isn't easy, and it requires hard work and long hours. For pastry chef Laura White of Forno Cultura, it's a transition from fine dining that's taken her to Iron Chef Canada. White has been sharing her passion for baking with the world for more than seven years and before her pastry chef career, White gained fine dining experience in acclaimed restaurants, such as Susur, Xoco Cava and Auberge du Pommier.
Outside of the long hours, here's where White likes to visit for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks.
The holiday-themed Iron Chef Canada battle between Laura White and best-selling cookbook author Anna Olson airs December 12 at 10 p.m. ET on Food Network Canada.
Breakfast
I’m rather happy to enjoy some Morcilla and scrambled eggs at my place most days, but I am a sucker for the excellent Diner style traditional breakfast at Harry’s Charbroiled Burgers. Bonus: it’s right down the street from home.
Lunch
The Tempered Room in Parkdale draws me back time and again for the excellent quiche and the perfect to-die-for custard tart slice.
Dinner
My work schedule has me finishing late these days, so dinner is had at the bakery most nights, but Dandylion is my top choice for a dinner out on a night off.
Drinks
The Tennesse Tavern is my favourite place to meet friends for a catch-up drink. The snack options from the kitchen mean I never leave hungry.
