The second season of CTV's The Launch kicked off this week with plenty of hype, shining a spotlight on a new group of talented Canadian musicians, all vying for the top prize: mentorship from music industry royalty and the international release of a hot single.
After the initial group was whittled down to two, the first champion of The Launch is a young singer, songwriter, and composer named Cassiøpeia. Lead by the motto, "If you can dream it, do it", and despite still being in high school, the multi-instrumentalist stood out from the pack with her unique tone. Her first single "Better" was released following the season's premiere episode and is already receiving plenty of praise.
Growing up in Burnaby, B.C., Cassiøpeia says she has always enjoyed eating the iconically Canadian dish, poutine. When she isn't composing music at home after school, Cassiøpeia loves to spend time in the kitchen, cooking up Italian-style meals alongside her brother, who is also a passionate cook.
"He likes me to be his sous chef," says the singer happily.
Here's where Cassiøpeia likes to eat and drink in her hometown of Burnaby and Vancouver.
Breakfast and brunch
I don’t get out much for breakfast. I could stay basic and say Tim Hortons, but I love eating breakfast at home. I’d like to sit down in the morning and have a bagel or a waffle and a warm glass of water with a bit of honey. Then, I get my day started, do some school and then start working on my music.
Lunch and dinner
My favourite place to dine is a Burnaby restaurant called Cotto. I love the vibe and the atmosphere of it, and their food is incredible!
Dessert
I like to enjoy ice cream in a really cool downtown Vancouver ice cream shop like Earnest Ice Cream.
