Today, Windfall Cider announced the debut of its newest flagship release, Hail Mary. The latest edition to the Windfall catalogue is a spring-inspired rosé cider, meant to personify the enjoyment of relaxing with friends on a sunny patio. Hail Mary is comprised of a delicate blend of B.C. apples and ripe, local berries.

“With our inaugural release last year, Jackpot, we wanted to go classic with a dry cider that hit all the right notes of crispness and that paired well with food,” explains Nathaly Nairn, co-founder of Windfall Cider with her husband Jeff Nairn.“Since then, we have continued to experiment with new flavours and wanted to create something that still used old-world cidermaking techniques with a modern approach. Rosé wine is an extremely popular drink category, and we thought, why not a modern rosé cider? That’s how Windfall Hail Mary was born.”

Hail Mary’s eclectic can design was put together by Philadelphia-based illustrator Armando Veve under the creative direction of Vancouver’s 123 West Communications. The illustration embodies the whimsical journey that Nathaly and Jeff embarked on while creating Windfall Cider.

“The reason that we love craft cider is not only because of its heritage, but also the flexibility it provides,” Jeff says. “We’re working with local bartenders to develop seasonal cocktail recipes featuring Windfall Cider and more. We want to see cider not only as a summer drink but as a year-round staple.”

The launch of Hail Mary marks yet another step forward for rosé ciders in the craft cider industry. After the highly successful production of Rock Creek’s Rosé Cider earlier this year, we expect to see many more fun takes on the trendy beverage in the near future.
