Having spent the better part of her life learning and experiencing the value of sharing a meal with the ones you love in her Nonna’s kitchen in Montreal, it likely came as no surprise to friends and family when Aicia Colacci decided to switch careers and pursue the path toward becoming a chef.
Following her time at culinary school, Colacci returned to cooking the Italian-inspired fare she grew up with at Montreal’s Beatrice Ristorante. After that, she continued to refine her skills at some of the city’s top restaurants, including Nora Gray and chefs Stefano Faita and Michele Forgione's Impasto.
In 2019, Colacci decided to leave the restaurant industry to return to her roots. Since then, the passionate pasta aficionado has been sharing her love of cooking with other aspiring chefs through virtual cooking classes on Chefsfeed, as well as providing Montrealers with an array of personalized catering and takeout services.
We recently caught up with the talented Top Chef Canada competitor, who ran us through some of her favourite places to eat and drink in her hometown of Montreal.
Breakfast
I typically stay in for breakfast, however I do love Le Reservoir. It’s great for breakfast, brunch, dinner, and a late night snack. They also make their own beer and have delicious wine options.
Lunch
Olive et Gourmando, hands down! Of course there are so many others, but I consistently return. Their soups, sandwiches, salads, pastries… healthy, tasty, and layered with love!
Dinner
Damas, a Syrian restaurant, has always been one of my favourites...
...along with Ma Poule Mouillée, a Portuguese rotisserie. They’re both drool-worthy!
Drinks
I do prefer wine and there are quite a few restaurants in Montreal with an incredible wine program. As for cocktails, Bar Vintage 132 and The Cloakroom are my go-tos.
