A new concept from the team behind Halifax’s acclaimed Drift is getting ready to open its doors in the Queen’s Marque district this week, offering up a playful assortment of Latin-inspired dishes and drinks.
Led by celebrated chef Anthony Walsh and culinary veteran Steven Kwon, Bar Sofia will aim to showcase both the vibrant essence of Latin cooking and the rich bounty of Atlantic Canadian ingredients with menu items that range from Newfoundland Tuna Tiradito and P.E.I. Beef Carne Apache to Nova Scotia Lamb Chorizo Verde Burger and churros with spiced dark chocolate dip.
Guests can also expect to see plenty of local brews on tap, a Latin-leaning wine list featuring primarily South American varietals, and more than 20 different cocktail creations with an emphasis on tequila and mezcal.
Also worthy of note is the restaurant’s unique interior design, which combines classic elegance, rich contemporary colours, and imaginative artwork to pay homage to the San Telmo district of Buenos Aires.
Bar Sofia will be open Wednesdays through Sundays for lunch and dinner service beginning on February 18. Reservations can be made online.
