With the recent release of her fifth solo full-length album Element, the acclaimed Vancouver-based producer-songwriter Louise Burns once again proves that she's at the top of her musical game.
Regardless of what song you're listening to from Burns' latest album, the lyrics are impactful and her hooks are immediate.
“For me, there is nothing more radical than being joyful despite what you’re going through,” Burns explained in her album release announcement. “Creating a world in which you can find peace when the real one ain’t deliverin’.”
There are many ways to celebrate the success of a new project being released into the ether, and we're willing to bet that the talented artist did so at a great local Vancouver restaurant or bar. With that in mind, here are Louise Burns' favourite spots for eats and drinks in her home base of Vancouver.
Breakfast
I’m not a huge breakfast person, but I most certainly am a pain au chocolat and hot Americano person.
I love Vignette on Main Street. It’s cute inside and their coffee is great.
Also, an honorable mention to Small Victory for their exquisite pain au chocolat.
Lunch
I love Yama Café in Hastings Sunrise. This adorable Japanese café has some of the most incredible bowls as well as a great tea selection and little vegan muffins for dessert. I work out of a few studios nearby and this place is a go-to for lunch breaks.
Honourable mention to Mr. Red Café because Jason Corbett (my co-producer on my new record) and I basically lived here while making Element. Their vegetarian pho is *chef's kiss*.
Dinner
The Acorn. I love this restaurant; it is my happy place.
Their kale Caesar salad is iconic. It's got a great wine selection, great music, beautiful ambiance, and the best staff ever.
Drinks
I love going to Juice Bar YVR or Seasons in the Park for the view!
Wherever I wind up, I’m either drinking a dry red or a negroni.
