Winter is coming and sadly, summer is coming to an end, you might start feeling a little cooped up. With only one Sunday left in August, why not celebrate by drinking B.C. wine and eating fried chicken? That sounds like the perfect end to August.

The Downlow Chicken Shack and small-batch wine producer A Sunday in August are joining forces and putting on an exclusive, one-night only Nashville Hot Chicken Schnitzel evening on Sunday, August 26, 2018. From 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., diners can enjoy some schnitzel with either a glass of riesling or cabernet-merlot. Hot Chicken Schnitzel is a fun spin on the standard Nashville hot chicken, a dish that is arguably the biggest food crazes in North America as of late.

“The end of August is notably always called the end of summer, so we thought, why not go out with a bang on a Sunday in August with our favourite winery, A Sunday in August?” says Doug Stephen, owner and chef of The Downlow Chicken Shack. “Of course, we had to mark the occasion with a different menu item: the Hot Chicken Schnitzel!”

The Hot Chicken Schnitzel ($9) will be served medium-spiced with sauerkraut, Dill’L sauce, pickles, and either a glass of A Sunday in August riesling ($7) or cabernet-merlot ($7).

The Downlow Chicken Shack also hopes to make one Sunday out of each month a special one by collaborating with various wineries or breweries in B.C.

“We definitely want to put on more special events like this and work with some of our favourite friends in the industry,” adds Stephen. “Definitely watch our social media channels for further updates. Expect a different take on our hot chicken each time.”
