It is the dead of winter and that means that copious amounts of hot chocolate have never been more welcomed by Calgarians seeking comfort amid low temperatures.
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, YYC Hot Chocolate Fest officially kicks off on Monday, February 1st and runs until the end of the month. With over 70 participating businesses–which include restaurants, cafés and chocolatiers–the festival's organizer Meals on Wheels Calgary promises something for everyone. Participants are also playfully competing for three annual awards: YYC’s Best Hot Chocolate, Best Spirited Hot Chocolate, and the Cup That Runneth Over Award.
As always, a portion of the sales of feature hot chocolate from festival participants will be donated to the food-focused charity. From its humble beginnings back in 2011, YYC Hot Chocolate Fest has raised more than $164,000 for the cause.
A full list of participating businesses can be found on the festival's site and includes Rosso Coffee Roasters, Vendome, The Chocolate Lab and many more.
