Cool new specialty shop JunePlum by Patois opens in Toronto

An exciting new concept from the folks behind Toronto's celebrated Asian-Caribbean eatery

I have long been fan of Patois (who hasn't?), and I always make a point of popping by whenever I'm the city for work. Chef Craig Wong's Asian-Caribbean restaurant is always buzzing with good vibes, crushable bevvies and delicious, memorable food.

Recently, the chef has expanded next door with his latest venture, JunePlum by Patois.

Wong says the addition of the specialty food and apparel shop next door is meant for Patois patrons to see more of the restaurant's favourite pantry essentials as well as be provided with tips and tricks for cooking with both Caribbean and Asian flavours at home.

"I wanted to share a bit more of the story of where I come from and for our guests to get to know me through our patties and grab ’n’ go snacks," says Wong. "When you walk into our space, you’re immediately on vacation. Everything is handpicked and curated just for you, from the merchandise we sell, to the tropical vibes and music."

The funky retail shop boasts a wide array of food and drink products including some of the restaurant's own sauces and marinades. There are also plenty of hand-selected products like Wong's Ice Cream, Barbet sparkling water and Ovaltine cookies, but most importantly, folks can take home Patois' famous patties that come with fillings like smoked brisket in oxtail gravy, curry goat and more.

It's also got some pretty cool t-shirts, sweaters and other apparel if you're looking for some new duds.

JunePlum by Patois is located at 796 Dundas St W and open Fridays to Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
