Indoor dining may have resumed in Calgary, but if you’re looking to soak up the sun this weekend with quality eats and a variety of summer-themed sips, there are plenty of great patio spaces worth checking out this weekend.

From a tropical papaya-infused sour with Made by Marcus guava ice cream at Cabin Brewing to a cherrywood-smoked NEIPA with Mikey’s Tacos at Cold Garden, to a Nanaimo Bar-flavoured stout with live music at Eighty-Eight Brewing, here are 10 of our favourite patio experiences currently available throughout the city.

Annex Ale Project

Along with its vibrant patio space and wide selection of house-brewed taps, Annex Ale Project offers a variety of seasonal, local, and small batch brews, along with boozy sodas, ready-to-drink wines, zero-proof sodas, and more.

Annex has also partnered up with Calgary comfort food favourite Lil’ Empire Burger, so there are plenty of burger, hot dog, and side options to snack on while you sip.

Cabin Brewing Company

Having recently doubled its outdoor seating capacity, the Cabin Brewing patio is a great place to find shade from the exceptionally hot days Calgary has been having, while still enjoying summery beers like the #1 Neighbour Fruited Sour with papaya.

In keeping with the tropical theme, Cabin also offers a special guava ice cream from Made by Marcus, along with South Island meat pies and more.

Citizen Brewing Company

If you don’t want to wait for July 9 to start your Stampeding, the Citizen Brewing patio provides the perfect beer garden vibes to soak up the sun with a selection of summer brews like the apricot and nectarine-forward Space Juice.

Citizen also serves a plentiful menu of classic patio fare with options that range from burgers and hot dogs to Hawaiian pork ribs and ice cream sandwiches.

Cold Garden Beverage Company

Grill season is in full swing and to celebrate, Cold Garden is serving up the closest thing to a grilled beverage in its new Trop Dog Smoked New England IPA. The cherrywood-smoked, double dry-hopped NEIPA has notes of pineapple, mango, citrus, and coconut, which pairs perfectly with a pico de gallo taco from Mikey’s Taco Shop.

Dandy Brewing Company

Dandy Brewing offers a strong selection of seasonal beers, but if you’re looking to endure the patio heat while indulging in a delicious Dandy Dog or two, the brewery’s recently released Dandy Light Lager is a refreshingly crushable way to go.

Eighty-Eight Brewing Company

Whether you’re starting out the day with a Good Morning Coffee Stout, keeping cool in the afternoon with a Pretty in Pink vodka soda, or capping off the night with a Nanaimo Bar-flavoured No Bake stout, Eighty-Eight Brewing has you covered.

The brewery also plans to celebrate Neighbour Day this Saturday with live music and food from the Greta Bar food truck.

High Line Brewing

In addition to providing full sun coverage in a spacious environment, High Line Brewing recently announced the return of its Club Maté+ hard to its long list of unique summer-themed beverages. High Line also offers a hot dog menu inspired by various regions around the world along with a selection of snacks.

Last Best Brewing and Distilling

With one of the longest weekend happy hours on our list and high wall coverage on either side, you could hang out on the Last Best Brewing patio all day long without breaking a sweat or the bank. In addition to its popular citrus-forwrad Last Best IPA, the brewery also just introduced a new summery dry-hopped sour, Mangolomaniac.

Marda Loop Brewing

If you’re looking to pair patio pints and tasty eats in an eclectic but relaxed atmosphere, Marda Loop Brewing is the place to be. The brewery has a great selection of summer-themed brews, including the tropical Big Juice, the citrusy Raspberry SoCal, and the Cherry Bomb Blonde Ale.

Ol’ Beautiful Brewing Co

With a long line of bike racks located next to the front door, Ol’ Beautiful Brewing provides the perfect pit stop for anyone in the Ramsay area looking to take a break from biking. The brewery has a wide variety of beverage options, but if you’re looking for something summery to sip on while snacking on tasty eats–courtesy of the shipping container food stall, A1 Burrito–the Big Hug New England IPA and the Dark Arts Pink Lemonade Sour are the way to go.
