Buddy’s Bakery launches Share the Warmth campaign in Calgary

The charitable campaign aims to donate 10,000 cookies to local charities

This week, Calgary's Buddy’s Bakery announced a new holiday charity campaign that will aim to see the northeast-located patisserie produce 10,000 cookies to be donated to local non-profit organizations the Calgary Food Bank and The Mustard Seed.

Taking place from now until December 31, Buddy’s Share the Warmth campaign will offer Calgarians a chance to purchase its popular cookies at a discounted price of $1.50, with Buddy’s covering the price difference, packaging, and delivery costs to send the cookies to the two charities.

“We recognize food insecurity as one of the silent issues so many families and people in need around Calgary face, and we are committed to driving change through our fundraising campaign,” Buddy’s Bakery founder, Esmail Soleymani explains. “We are so grateful to partner with many local businesses and individuals to raise awareness and funds for our neighbours in need.”

Since the onset of the pandemic, both the Calgary Food Bank and The Mustard Seen have seen a significant increase in Calgarians in need. Although both non-profit organizations require aid and support in a multitude of ways, initiatives like Buddy’s help to create awareness while boosting the spirits of those in need during the holiday season.

“Calgarians who never thought they would have to come to a food bank just can't make their dollars stretch to cover the increase in their expenses,” Calgary Food Banks' Avaleen Streeton said. “We are truly grateful for the generous support of community partners like Buddy’s Bakery to help ensure that families and individuals will receive a sweet treat along with seven to ten days’ worth of nutritious food.”

Share the Warmth cookies can be purchased online or at Buddy’s Bakery in northeast Calgary. Donations can also be made directly via the Calgary Food Bank and The Mustard Seed websites.
