A new neighbourhood mercato and eatery concept from the team behind Italian bakery chain Sciué opened its doors in West Vancouver today. Offering up a range of Italian goods along with dine-in offerings from celebrated chef Alessandro Vianello, Casa Mia aims to serve as the evolutionary extension of the bakery’s original downtown concept.
In addition to mercado items such as homemade pasta, pizza dough, sauces, and breakfast-style handhelds, Casa Mia will feature a full sit-down experience complete with lunch, dinner, drinks, and happy hour menus.
Some of the lunch and dinner menu highlights include the Vitello Tonnato (shaved veal, tuna aioli, capers), the Cacio e Pepe (bucatini, pecorino romano, black pepper), and the Boneless Short Rib (braised in red wine with polenta and salsa verde).
Also worthy of note is the eatery’s selection of house-made pizzas, which includes options ranging from the tried-and-true margherita (tomato sauce, flor di latte, basil, olive oil) to more creative offerings such as the Puttanesca (tomato sauce, white anchovy, shaved red onion, olives, capers, fresh lemon zest, parsley) or the Funghi (white sauce, rosemary roasted mushrooms, truffle pecorino, watercress).
In terms of libations, Casa Mia guests can look forward to a strong blend of Italian and new world wines, classic Italian cocktails, imported sparkling wines, waters, and brews, and zero proof Italian sodas, coffees, and teas.
Casa Mia is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. More information can be found online.
