An interesting new pop-up series from acclaimed chef Andrea Carlson is getting ready to make its debut in Vancouver next weekend. Taking place at Bar Gobo on a weekly basis beginning this Sunday, Joyride will aim to offer up a fun wine-forward experience paired with snackable share plates and live music.
Chef Carlson and her predominantly women-led teams at Bar Gobo, Burdock and Co., and Harvest Community Foods will feature a different wine importer each month, starting with B.C.-based natural wine and fruit cider pét-nats agency Massey Wines and Spirits.
Each of the pop-up’s curated wine lists will also be paired with a rotational made-for-snacking menu, as well as locally-brewed beer by-the-glass from Burnaby’s Studio Brewing.
The pop-up’s music program is headed by Burdock and Co.’s general manager Jordan Westre and DJ Dimanche, and will venture via vinyl into what the duo describes as “fringe genres with a focus on 60’s and ‘70s psych, blues, progressive rock, jazz and beyond.”
“We can’t wait to welcome guests into Joyride, Bar Gobo’s inaugural pop-up event,” said chef Carlson. “From Jordan Westre’s magnetic DJ’ing to our kitchen’s innovative concepts, Joyride will show off the talent and creativity of our female-led powerhouse team. We’re expecting a buzzing night of fabulous food and delicious wine—arrive early, because it’s first-come, first-served!”
Joyride takes place at Bar Gobo every Sunday from 6 p.m. until late, beginning November 6.
