A cool new cocktail bar has been quietly stirring up quite a buzz in Calgary over the past few weeks. Located behind Plant Shop through a sneaky alleyway side entrance, Business and Pleasure aims to offer an elevated yet cozy and casual cocktail- and snack-forward experience.
Though Business and Pleasure plans to change its menus regularly, some of the current menu highlights include pan fried shishito peppers with chili crisp, soy sauce, and sesame; slow-roasted pork belly with piquillo pepper jam and kewpie mayo; and a beet and pastrami sourdough reuben with pickled cabbage, smoked mozzarella, secret sauce, and house-cut fries.
The cocktail program is headed by Calgary bartender extraordinaire Kaitlyn Alonday (formerly of High Line Brewing), and features a selection of sophisticated sips such as the savoury and smoky Slow Burn (Courvoisier VS, Laphroaig Select, crème de pêche, lillet, basil bitters) the herbaceous Twin Flame (sombra, yellow Chartreuse, fresh cantaloupe juice, fresh lime juice, bay leaf bitters), and the silky Velvet Elvis (tanqueray, lemongrass syrup, egg whites, fresh lemon juice, tonic, lime leaf bitters).
Business and Pleasure is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 11 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to late.
