Eat This Now Vancouver: Alimentaria Mexicana’s Pan de Muerto

A traditional Mexican sweet bread to celebrate Día de los Muertos

The Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos is now less than one week away and if you’re looking for tasty traditional ways to celebrate in Vancouver, Alimentaria Mexicana should be at the top of your list.

From October 29 until November 2, the Granville Island eatery will be baking up the traditional Mexican pan dulce known as pan de muerto. The sweetened skull-shaped soft bread features notes of orange and sugar, and will be freshly-baked to order daily.

Alimentaria Mexicana’s pan de muerto comes in packs of four and are now available to pre-order at $11 per pack. The restaurant is also inviting guests to leave an offering for their lost loved ones at the Mercado’s Día de los Muertos altar.
