The final round of the 2022 Canadian National Barista Championship took place this past weekend in Vancouver and after all was said and done, Monogram Coffee’s Ben Put was crowned champion and will go on to represent Canada at the Wold Baristas Championship and the World Brewers Cup Championship next month in Australia.

As far as we can tell, Put has been competing since at least 2009. In addition to this year’s Canadian championship, the Calgary-based barista has won at least four national championships, and following an event cancellation in 2016, Put became the only competitor to have won four years in a row from 2013 to 2017.

The win also gives Monogram Coffee its second consecutive year with a Canadian national champion behind the counter, and according to Monogram, 2020 winner Jill Hoff played a major role in Put securing the title.

The Wold Baristas Championship and the World Brewers Cup Championship are taking place from September 27 to 31. The full results from the 2022 Canadian National Barista Championship can be found online.
