10 New songs by Canadian artists to add to your playlist - July 5, 2021 edition

Canadian-made music to have a listen to

Here's to another week of warm weather, cool drinks and great tunes!

From an epic summer bop courtesy of our Melodies and Menus podcast miniseries cohost Madison Olds to a gorgeous cover of a Disney oldie by Edmonton's Celeigh Cardinal, here are 10 new songs that we are loving right now.

Alee - Guys Like You

Yet again, Alee comes through with some catchy country pop to soak up this summer. "Guys Like You" is another song the Canadian-born, Nashville-dwelling singer has released in anticipation of her brand new album and we can't wait to hear what else she has in store.

Caid Jones - Butterfly

We are loving the new album No Distractions Please by Winnipeg's Caid Jones. Out of the seven tracks, we're especially vibing with "Butterfly", a song about survival and transformation.

"My focus is to provide for the community that made me and as well as provide for my listeners,” Jones said in his album's announcement. “My biggest goals are to support my family as well as my fans through their journey in life and to vulnerably show my journey, vulnerably show my tools, and vulnerably show my hardships.”

Cérena - immaterial girl

Cérena's debut album resurrection is something to listen to from start to finish. The trans-fem musician's thoughtful lyrics, passionate vocals and funky dance beats come together to create something so memorable with each track. "immaterial girl" is a song that exudes fluidity and the ability to be whatever or whomever you want to be.

Celeigh Cardinal - There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow

Did you know that the merry-go-round at Disneyland had its own theme song? Neither did we, but Disney did and Disney also decided it needed a new interpretation.

Celeigh Cardinal soulful voice breathes new life in "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" and makes you want to listen to it again and again and again.

Dill The Giant - Morning Dew

"Morning Dew" by Dill the Giant boasts some smooth verses and a chill beat. As the beat fades out at the end of the tune, it helps snap you out of the daydream the entrancing beats coaxed you into.

The Heels - Fools Gold

We were so excited to see The Heels drop the new album I Am recently. The country trio offers up a long list of tracks with many gems, including many that we've already come to love, but "Fools Gold" is our new favourite.

There is just something so magical about those harmonies in an upbeat see-ya-later tune like this.

Madison Olds - If You Wanna

Take the idea of torrid summer love and turn it into a bop. That is exactly what Madison Olds has done with her new song "If You Wanna".

After months of not being able to hit the dance floor, that is the only thing we want to do after hearing this song. Well, maybe not the only thing.

Madisyn Gifford - Bare Minimum

The latest release from Vancouver's Madisyn Gifford is a fun breakup anthem that will get stuck in your head for days. "Bare Minimum" is all about biding adieu to a bad relationship and embracing one's self post-breakup.

TJB - Selfish

There's just something special about TJB's intonation and audio editing that keeps us coming back for more. His recently released track "Selfish" might sound like someone being just that, but it's also about finding success and he raps about it in the catchiest way possible.

Trish - Say It

The latest from Winnipeg R&B singer Trish is an intoxicating slow jam that pulls you in the from the get go. "Say It" is all about opening up about one's true feelings in a relationship.

Whether that's a good or bad thing, though, who's to know?
