Sometimes showing support simply means showing up...and having some fun too!
After being postponed during Chinook Blast last month, Drag on Ice recently announces that it would now be taking place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Henry Viney Arena. This is a wonderful opportunity for allies and queer folks alike to come together and show solidarity during these uncertain times.
Organized by Cabaret Calgary and its drag queen matriarch Karla Marx, Drag on Ice will also feature performers Addi Pose, Karlotta Handle, Simon Sir Real, Jane Hustle, and Mona Moore, as well as music by DJ Gaysnakes.
Marx and her lineup of performers will all take to the ice with attendees and serve up "frozen fierceness" (best descriptor) by way of drag entertainment and interactive games.
Tickets for this inclusive and lively event can be purchased via Showpass or at the door, and there is $5-$20 pay-what-you-can ticketing system in place for this event.
All proceeds from Drag on Ice will be donated to Walls Down Collective, which is a community group that provides communities with access to no-barrier resources and care, as well as The Accessible Queer Space Fund (AQS), a fund that aids queer venues, spaces, and events in becoming accessible to all individuals in the queer community.
