One day in Kelowna: DJ Ian MacKinnon

When Kelowna's 99.9 Sun FM afternoon host, Ian MacKinnon, isn't busy on-air, sharpening his wits and playing tunes to help people make it through the day, he heads out for a bite and drink at some of Okanagan's many dining spots. Since this gentleman has tasted and sipped almost all of what Kelowna has to offer, we thought we'd ask him about places he likes most.

Breakfast

The Bohemian Cafe & Catering Co. is as adorable as its food is delicious. It's a colourful, whimsical space that offers tons of classic breakfast options. The eggs Benny are unreal, but whatever you order, get a side of toast, because the homemade jam it comes with will conquer your heart.

Lunch

Momo Sushi is a great little sushi joint in the heart of downtown. Even for a quick lunch, the quality is consistently delicious, the dishes are always beautifully plated, and the staff is always smiling. Try the Crispy Crispy Roll; it's a bit unconventional, but heavenly!

Dinner

Poppadoms is a family-owned and authentic Indian restaurant that uses locally-sourced ingredients through and through, and I mean authentic — it makes its own yogurt! It's a great takeaway lunch option, as the staff delivers hot meals in a stainless steel container called a tiffin. It even offers Indian cooking classes!

Drinks

I've got to go with my favourite local watering hole, Tonics Pub. It's downtown, but not right in the middle of the chaotic summer crowds. The staff is fun, the beer is cold, and the food just might surprise you. The pub fare is made to order in the kitchen it shares with the Greek restaurant next door (Yamas). Also, it has the best wings in town.
