Whether it be a cruller or apple fritter, Canadians eat the most doughnuts in the world. Although in pop culture, like in The Simpsons, the donut is often seen as portrayals of the American life, there are more doughnut shops in Canada per capita than any other country. Perhaps references to doughnuts should really be made alongside Mounties or people wearing a Canadian tuxedo.
Tim Hortons has undergone a few company reorganizations over the years and is now a subsidiary of the Canadian holding company Restaurant Brands International, owned by a Brazilian restaurant corporation, but Canadians still love it as their own.
