Calgary's Tubby Dog teases revamped concept Tubby's in new Beltline location

Hot dogs, drinks and fun times are headed to Calgary's Beltline neighbourhood

After closing the doors to its longstanding 17 Avenue S.W. space at the end of 2021 following a lease expiry (and 16 years in business), Calgarians were left wondering where or if Tubby Dog would ever return. Fast forward 10 months later and owner Jon Truch is getting ready to release details on his newest venture, Tubby's.

“It’s just a bar [that serves hot dogs],” said the owner and operator of Calgary's late Tubby Dog, in a recent release teasing a re-imagined version of his institution. While Tubby Dog was a casual diner-esque experience, Tubby's is shaping up to offer low-key lounge vibes with a drink menu that will offer cocktails, craft beer and wine...in addition to hot dogs, of course.

A little bird has told us that this new evolution of Tubby will be located somewhere on 8th Street S.W. in the Beltline neighbourhood and is meant to appeal to hospitality industry as a gathering place in addition to neighbourhood residents. We can also expect it to open its doors by late 2022.
