If you know me, you'll know that I love spending time dining in Whistler. With a long list of unique restaurants including Bar Oso, Mekong and Il Caminetto, eating well is a very easy thing to do here.
One of the longstanding culinary crown jewels of Whistler is, without a doubt, the Bearfoot Bistro. While the restaurant's long-time executive chef Melissa Craig and general manager Andre Saint-Jacques moved on in recent years to reopen Sooke Harbour House (which should be happening very soon), Bearfoot's current culinary director Dominic Fortin is putting his on stamp on the award-winning restaurant.
One of the ways he's doing that is tapping into his Quebec roots and celebrating sugaring season with The Magic of Maple: A Sugar Shack Dining Experience. Available until April 30, 2024, Bearfoot Bistro's take on a sugar shack dining experience starts its menu options at a very reasonable $49 per person and includes a smattering of delicious-sounding French-Canadian dishes like green pea soup with homemade bacon and burnt onion puree, braised beef tourtiere with caribou jus, maple mille-feuille and much more.
"You can expect to taste our version of the classic Quebec tourtière made with venison and beef served with a caribou jus, and for dessert, you certainly don’t want to miss our take on the classic maple cone—maple syrup, maple butter, and marshmallows are layered and covered in decadent dark chocolate, or the iconic maple taffy,” said Fortin in the feature menu announcement.
To keep with the sugar shack theme, Bearfoot Bistro's bartenders have created feature maple-influenced cocktails to sip along with dinner...or at least to start off dinner before diving into the restaurant's robust wine list.
Mais oui!
