Despite the considerable challenges and hardships Metro Vancouver’s Chinese and Taiwanese restaurants have faced throughout the pandemic, a handful of new concepts have managed to flourish in the face of adversity thanks to their unique offerings and courageous vision.
As a way to celebrate the culinary excellence and perseverance of those concepts, the Chinese Restaurant Awards have announced a new category for this year’s ceremony, the Critic’s Choice Awards’ Game Changer.
Selected by acclaimed Vancouver-based food writer and Critic’s Choice Awards’ judging chair Lee Man, the inaugural newcomer award recipients are Chef’s Choice Chinese Cuisine, iDen and Quan Ju De, Old Bird, and Uncle’s Snack Shop.
The four winners have each been invited to receive special recognition at the 13th annual Chinese Restaurant Awards ceremony this upcoming fall. Thorough breakdowns on each restaurant along with more information about the world’s longest-running Chinese culinary awards event can be found online.
