Alberta chocolatier launches Western Canada's first oat milk chocolate bar

Jacek Chocolate Couture debuts new plant-based chocolate bar

After more than a year of research, development, trials and testing, Edmonton chocolatier Jacek Chocolate Couture has just unveiled what very well may be Western Canada’s first oat milk chocolate bar.

Crafted in-house using cocoa beans from the Tumaco region in Colombia, the Oat Couture Bar was released in conjunction with Jacek’s Spring 2021 Ampersand Collection as a way to provide vegan chocolate enthusiasts with a delicious plant-based alternative to what’s currently on offer in the milk chocolate space.

The chocolate itself is produced by way of a three-day process, during which the cocoa beans are sorted, roasted, winnowed, and refined before being carefully combined with oat milk, cocoa butter and vanilla bean. Once the optimal flavour and mouthfeel are achieved, the chocolate is left to rest for 30 days before being cast and made into bars.

“We are so excited to bring a completely new product to market.  The flavour of the Oat Milk Chocolate is unique, creamy and incredibly satisfying”, explains Edmonton's Jacqueline Jacek. “I had the pleasure of visiting Colombia in June 2019 to witness how quality cacao sold [at] a premium price is providing a means of transformation in communities there.”

According to the Edmonton chocolatier, plant-based chocolate lovers can expect more oat-based bars in the near future. The Jacek Oat Couture Milk Chocolate Bar is currently available to purchase online and at various retail locations in Western Canada.
