This week, the team behind popular Calgary outposts Mikey’s on 12th and Mikey’s Taco Shop launched a GoFundMe fundraiser in an effort to raise funds to support chef and co-owner Alli Said, who recently returned to Mexico to be with his dad during a difficult time.
According to the GoFundMe post, chef Said’s father is currently undergoing a series of serious surgeries and chemotherapy, and any donation will go toward covering medical costs.
In addition to creating some seriously delicious eats for Calgarians over the years, chef Said has been a passionate advocate for the city’s Latin community and has developed a reputation as a genuine and generous Calgarian who is always there to help anyone else in need.
The team at Mikey’s has stated that any amount of support, whether through direct funds or by sharing chef Said’s story with others will be greatly appreciated.
