Kinder chocolate recalled due to salmonella outbreak
We don’t normally include product recalls in our weekly roundups simply because there are typically too many to cover, but with Easter approaching we thought it would be a good idea to share the news that the salmonella-related recall of Kinder chocolate products was recently expanded to Canada.
The European outbreak linked to Kinder’s chocolates has already affected more than 130 children under the age of 10, several of whom have been hospitalized.

Avian flu continues to rip through Canadian poultry farms
The last time we reported on the spread of avian influenza in Canada the outbreak was limited to a few farms in Ontario, P.E.I., and Newfoundland and Labrador. This week, government authorities reported cases in at least 12 farms in the aforementioned provinces, along with additional potential cases in Alberta and Quebec, which experts say now poses a significant risk to the industry at large.

Restaurants Canada launches new metaverse marketplace
Restaurant Canada was in the news again this week after announcing the launch of a new marketplace for Canada’s foodservice industry. 365 Marketplace, which will officially launch at this year's RC Trade Show, will aim to help fuel the economy by enabling buyers and sellers to interact in real-time with the use of 3D models and augmented reality experiences.
