Tofino’s fourth annual Race for the Blue tournament is set to get underway next week, and in addition to a record-breaking number of competitors, Tofino Resort and Marina recently revealed what participants and fans can expect from this year’s competition.

Throughout the eight-day tournament, competitive Pacific Albacore tuna anglers will compete for part of an $80,000+ prize pool. 1909 Kitchen executive chef Terry Somerville will also offer up a unique feature dish at the restaurant composed of the day’s catch. Hatch Waterfront Pub will also be hosting daily outdoor grills featuring performances by local musicians.

On September 18, following the competitor-only special dinner at 1909 Kitchen, Tofino Resort and Marina will host a wrap-up celebration featuring an awards presentation, a live concert headlined by Bedouin Soundclash, and an array of delicious Thai cuisine courtesy of award-winning chef Angus An of Vancouver’s Maenam

Additional tournament highlights include a free public market on September 12 featuring fishing-focused stalls, food vendors, and live entertainment, as well as the competition’s annual Thankful Thursday, during which competitors will have the opportunity to donate their winnings toward charitable causes.
