One Day in Montreal: singer-songwriter Lydia Sutherland

The singer-songwriter's favourite food and drink spots in Quebec

Since her appearance on the hit show La Voix in 2018, Montreal-based singer Lydia Sutherland has been taking the Canadian music scene by storm.

In addition to her debut EP surpassing well over 100,000 streams, the prolific 22-year-old songwriter has accumulated co-writing credits on close to 1,000 songs for radio charting artists across the globe.

Her latest single “Love Me” from her forthcoming EP showcases a new side to the formerly French-pop artist, combining her versatile vocal range with an upbeat country sound to describe the journey of falling for a person who helps you fall in love with yourself.

We recently had a chance to chat with the talented Montreal-based singer, who filled us in on all of her favourite places to eat and drink in her home province.

I’m obsessed with this cute little spot on Notre-Dame, Barley. Everyone who knows me, knows how much I love my coffee and their cereal milk latte is my most favorite ever. They have the most aesthetically pleasing drinks, food and the most delicious avocado toast.

I was never the biggest salad fan until I went to Mandy's Salad Bar. Everything I’ve had on the menu so far is so tasty and refreshing. They also have the cutest ambiance and decor.

Dinner

Over the summer I discovered Comptoir 400 and it’s a new go to for me. Their “Regina'' pizza has got to be one of the best things I’ve ever had. It’s situated in Old Port which is one of my favorite places in the city. The vibe at night is so fun and just adds to this amazing restaurant!

Drinks

No matter how many drink spots we try, my friends and I always end up back at Carlos & Pepe’s. It’s this super fun Mexican restaurant (that also has the best steak tacos.) By now I think I must’ve tried every margarita on the menu, but my favorite is still the classic Strawberry. 10/10.
