The most recent winners of the Academy of Chocolate Awards’ international chocolate competition were announced today, and Calgary’s cōchu chocolatier received top placings for each of their four entries in the bonbon category.
The Academy of Chocolate Awards typically takes place from mid-February to mid-June, featuring five key categories: chocolate bars, bonbons (filled chocolates), drinking chocolate, chocolate spreads, and brand awareness.
After weeks of deliberation, it was announced today that cōchu chocolatier was awarded a gold for its chai masala caramel (below), a silver for its soft salted caramel, a bronze medal for its peanut butter, and a commendation for their collaboration with Jann Arden, aptly named The Jann (above).
Cōchu chocolatier was founded by head chocolatier Anne Sellmer in 2017, and since then, the Calgary-based company has accumulated an incredible 61 national and international awards, including 34 World Final medals.
While cōchu chocolatier was undoubtedly looking forward to another solid performance in the chocolate bars category, due to the widespread impact of COVID-19, judging for the remaining categories has been put on hold.
