This week, popular Vancouver comfort food destination Downlow Chicken announced that it will be opening up a new shop on the University of British Columbia campus when in-person classes resume this September. Located on University Boulevard’s restaurant row, the new DL space will feature a 1,600 square foot counter service-style eatery with roughly 50 seats inside and on its patio, along with a curated menu that highlights a selection of DL’s most popular offerings.
“We are extremely excited to be part of UBC’s campus and share our love of fried chicken with new and current fans,” says co-owner Doug Stephen. “When we opened our first location three years ago, we could not have foreseen the amazing support we have received thus far. We are so very thankful. And now with our second location, we are in great company on University Boulevard.”
Patrons can expect to see classic DL comfort foods like its Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, fried chicken by the piece, and pizza, as well as signature sides such as pickles, potato salad, sweet n’ sour slaw, and a new spice dust exclusive to the UBC location.
DL Chicken’s UBC outpost is set to open in September, while its original Commercial Drive location is currently open daily for take-out and pre-orders.
