Not all women are created equal, especially in the wide and diverse world of drag queens that has grown exponentially in recent years due to the popularity of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Calgary-based queen, Perla Coddington is a new take on an American classic. With a drag aesthetic never before seen in Calgary,  Coddington takes her love of art, fashion, and performance to the max. Conceptual looks accompanied by strong theatrical ability, she wows and inspires audiences with her passion for drag. With a detailed eye, Perla strives to provide strong performances and dominate her next challenge.

Even though she just came onto the scene earlier this year, the queen has become an regular fixture in the Calgary drag performance circuit. Catch her co-hosting weekly RuPaul's Drag Race viewing parties at Dickens' Pub where performances with fellow queens like Grease Jones follow. Coddington is also performing alongside RPDR alum Laila McQueen at our Drags Benny fundraiser for Calgary Pride on June 24!

When she's not busy performing and captivating crowds of people in the evening, here's where Perla Coddington loves to eat and drink around her hometown of Calgary.

Breakfast

Being a drag queen makes late mornings a standard. If there’s a chance that I’m up before 12 p.m., I'll try to make it down to OEB on 4th Street as often as I can, it's definitely my favorite breakfast stop in Mission.

Lunch

Another Mission staple! Hana is my sushi go-to and it’s definitely one to stop at if you're craving Japanese. The staff are super friendly and they always make sure you’re well taken care of. Plus, the menu is filled with so much goodness!

Dinner

I love me a happy hour and Cleaver has one of the best. $7 cocktails? I’m instantly there. Plus, the sliders are so addicting. You definitely can’t stop at three.

Drinks

I’m a huge Stephen King and Stanley Kubrick fan, so the moment I saw the interior of The Wednesday Room, I knew I was going to be obsessed. The cocktail menu is phenomenal.
