One Day in Lindsay, ON: Darryl James of Close Kicks and The Strumbellas

The bassist from two-time JUNO-award winning band The Strumbellas shares his favourite spots to eat

As the bassist in two-time JUNO-award winning band The Strumbellas and avid songwriter, Darryl James is no stranger to the power of collaborating with his fellow musicians.

Two years ago, James launched his solo music project Close Kicks to explore his artistic and production abilities separate from The Strumbellas. Close Kicks latest EP Colours was released earlier this year and features a lovely range of five tracks that explore themes of mental health, community activism, and vulnerability.

Happily calling Lindsay, ON, home, Darryl James took some time to tell us where he loves to eat and drink around town.

Breakfast

Kindred Coffee Bar [is a great spot]. I love grabbing an Americano and with a locally-sourced breakfast bagel.

Lunch

Olympia Restaurant is delicious. The Classic Lamb Souvlaki or Falafel Quinoa Salad are both solid choices!

Dinner

My family’s favourite local spot is actually comprised of four businesses: Fresh Fuell, North Ward Coffee, Amigos Tacos and This Is Bliss. This is a one-stop-shop family business that meets all our needs with healthy wraps, smoothies, locally sourced sandwiches and desserts, El Salvadorian coffee, tacos and more!

I don't drink, so I love Partake's IPA Non Alcoholic Beer...and Raspberry Buble too!
