In an effort to support Calgary restaurants, specialty food distributor The Fine Food Stop has just launched a campaign to encourage Calgarians to purchase gift cards from local eateries. Meant to help offset the loss in revenue caused by either temporarily closing or shifting to a take out or delivery-only model, #EatLater is adding any interested restaurants and bars to their website with associated information for people to obtain gift cards.
"We are passionate about food and want to support all the amazing restaurants that play a vital role in making Calgary vibrant, friendly, and familiar. Our mission is to connect you with your favourite restaurants, so you can help them through difficult times and continue enjoying them in the future," says a statement from the distributor on the campaign's website.
Current restaurants listed on the site include Two Penny, Alforno, Posto, Native Tongues, Cannibale, Calcutta Cricket Club, Proof and Donna Mac. Food and drink business owners in the Calgary area who are interested to having their contact deals added to this website are encouraged to send an email with the following: restaurant name, web resolution logo and best contact email or a gift card purchase link.
Restaurants across Western Canada can also submit their information to Breaking Bread Now–a similar, but more expansive initiative launched in Vancouver on March 13–that recently expanded to include Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
