As firm believers in the intrinsic connection between food and film, we always get excited for the fall season as it signifies that the return of Devour! The Food Film Fest is right around the corner.
Earlier this week, Devour revealed that for its 12th instalment, the food-meets-film festival will focus on the future of food with underlying themes that range from plant-based cuisine to sustainable farming.
“We’re not shy about tackling some hard-hitting topics to raise awareness about important food issues,” said Lia Rinaldo, Managing Director of Devour! “This year’s program is a wonderful balance of films about the future of food to entertaining food focused films that Devour! attendees know and love.”
Some of the films to look forward to include the Canadian premiere of The Best Chef in the World by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ben Proudfoot, Louis-Julien Petit’s The Kitchen Brigade, and the festival’s headlining film Sorry We’re Closed starring chef Elizabeth Falkner.
All visiting chefs will be hosting workshops covering topics such as foraging, youth cooking, vegan wines, and alternative foods. Like years past, event-goers can expect to see a veritable all-star cast of acclaimed chefs in attendance, including Lauren Marshall, Jason Bangerter, Stephanie Ogilvie, and many more
The festival will also feature a slew of chef-driven dinners, youth and student cooking classes, a plant-based street festival, the signature Chowder Smackdown, and a whole lot more that can be found in full on the Devour website.
